SECOND EDITION OF THE CONTEST FRESH METAL
Contest title: ANIMALS!
Organizer: Le Arti Orafe Jewellery School, Firenze , Italy
Contest goal: to integrate young jewellery makers from different countries, enable them to cooperate and interact, become familiar with the newest trends and to compare their achievements.
Contest guidelines: images and illustrations of animals, both real and fantastic, have always featured in the creation of jewellery, in all historical periods and all civilisations, and even in contemporary culture.
Religious symbols, or signs of belonging to a caste, clan or tribe; amulets or simply decorative objects ... As in all other forms of art, the naturalistic, symbolic or stylised reproduction of animals of all kinds has always represented one of the most effective ways of expressing concepts, feelings, ideals of strength, elegance, delicacy, beauty ..
The figures of animals and their symbolic representations play a leading role within the most distant and diverse cultures of different races.
Jewellers who want somehow to represent an animal in a way that is not banal have to exploit both technique and imagination to obtain an effective result.
What we're looking for is originality, freshness, fantasy, surprise and ingenuity so as to create a show of very special objects.
Contest criteria: Single items or sets can be entered into the contest, which function as jewellery, or as object. Contest works can be created by any hand technique, and participants may use any kind of material.
